Preparation of cement concrete floors with red cement (red oxide concrete floors)
      This type of floors is very popular for inner room concrete floor in residence in India. Before tiles and granite era the red oxide cement id mainly used for decoration the floors in residential buildings. It can also be polished by regular floor polish.

Preparation:

Laying of top layer: the top of red oxide flooring is a 7 to 12mm layer of special plaster with an additional finishing layer of cement red oxide slurry. For the plaster, 3.5kg of red oxide of good quality is added to every 50kg of light-coloured Portland cement (the ration to be varied based on the cement). This mix were mixed well and turn into even colour distributed evenly. Likewise mix the quantity which needed for flooring. For plastering of concrete floor 1:3 ration to be taken (one part is coloured cement and three part of fine sand for plastering) add required water and make the slurry or mortar and apply 7 to 12mm thickness. The surface is finished completely flat using skilled labour.

Curing: normally curing is preferred for ten days for better result. Covering of the floor using empty bag of any other materials are not preferred that may spoil the red colour

Policing: in olden days coconut oil rubbing with smooth husk of powdered egg shell also used for policing. Now a day’s mason polish is preferred. Using surface finishing machines, the polishing to be done.
